LATEST HAPPENINGS AROUND CVRS......
It is very important that we take the time to say THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers. Without all their generousity CVRS would be at a loss. It is great to have so many that get along so well, it is like having another family :)
So many things going on around CVRS and we are very excited! We will soon have shirts, hats, window clings, magnets, etc. for sale. We also have some good fundraiser ideas in the works and hope to have that information posted soon.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! We hope you had very enjoyable holidays. We at CVRS feel very blessed to have had such great volunteers/sponosors/supporters in 2010. With the New Year here, we are hoping that 2011 brings more wonderful people to CVRS! Our animals were very lucky to have so many wonderful gifts donated for the Christmas season. Each and every item is GREATLY appreciated, you really have no idea - THANK YOU!!
We have plans to do all we can to help our rescue efforts in every way possible. So, with that being said one of the first ways you can help is to download the GOODSEARCH toolbar to benefit CVRS. It is a simple process and every time you do a search or shop at one of the participating stores, CVRS get's a percentage. It is quite simple and only take a few minutes to get started.
PLEASE do not purchase a horse site unseen - pictures are deceiving! This horse Tio, we now call Bigee, was advertised on Pennswoods.net for sale, here is how the ad read and the picture on the left was with the ad........
For Sale: I have a beautiful 13 year old paint gelding for sale. I really dont know much about him because I rescued him from an auction back in February when my husband passed away to keep my mind off his death. Tio was in very bad shape and I put alot of money and time into getting him where he should be. I know he trailers well, loves to be groomed, He does ride nice from what I seen. I had him gelded cause he was still a stud when I bought him from the auction, He is UTD on his shots and had his teeth floated.. I did that all the same day when he was gelded. He will come when called out in the pasture. Reason for selling is I broke my foot and cant really tend too the horses for awhile and also need to downsize for winter. Please email or text for more pic or any questions you might have.
BUYERS BEWARE!!
The picture to the right shows the condition of Bigee (Tio) when he arrived at the home of the woman who bought him. Obviously this was for certain a misrepresentation of this horse! Now to my knowledge and because this was a friend of a family member the woman that purchased him was not home when he arrived. After seeing this horse's condition a phone call was made to the previous owner telling her this is not the horse described in the ad. Many attempts were made to contact the previous owner but there were no replies. There was a stop payment on the check and authorities were contacted. After the new owner and I both talked to PSPCA officials it was agreed Bigee would be signed over to us here at CVRS. Once the surrender papers were signed I tried to contact the previous owner to ask some questions so I have a better history for Bigee but there have been no replies.
Bigee is very thin, his teeth are in terrible shape, he has rain rot, a swollen right rear ankle, stifle issue, some possible arthritis and most serious is a huge lump right beyond his poll. He not only has a hard time eating because of the condition of his teeth but he has a hard time moving around as there is a lot of pain in his neck. We will be doing all we can to get Bigee back to the healthy horse he deserves to be. This will be a slow process but we are hopeful Bigee will recover so he can find a loving family to dote on him for the remainder of his days.
We are asking for anyone willing to donate towards Bigee's recovery to please Paypal or send your tax deductible donation to CVRS. We will have vet, farrier, medication, feed and hay bills coming in to take care of this handsome boy. If you live local you can always stop by Tractor Supply - Laney's or Mapleton Feed Mill to pick up some senior feed or beet pulp and come visit Bigee yourself. Watch for updates :)
BIGEE Oct 23, 2010

This is our Bigee now. His horrible looking feet are now trimmed, he is enjoying life as he deserves! After a very scarey choke episode - an emergency vet call and 3 1/2 hours of tubing this guy came through it! We then had our vet back out to check up on him, float his teeth and give him a complete exam. His teeth (what ones are left) were in bad shape but are now much better. Bigee has cancer in his right eye but with proper care and constant observation we believe it will be ok. He is indeed 30 yrs old and NOT 13 as we were told. We are looking for sponsors for this sweet soul. If you are interested please This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
